Picture this. It’s rainy af in New England and the weekends leading up to your wedding have been nothing but torrential downpour. That is absolutely not the vibe. Now picture this. Your wedding day is finally here and you’re blessed with the most sunshiny perfect day imaginable. I know you’ve all heard the old adage “a wet knot is not easily undone,” but let’s be honest – no one wants rain on their wedding day. We were all watching the weather with great anticipation making sure plan A was the only plan we needed. Thankfully, the cosmos got it together! There couldn’t have been better weather for Lisa and Mike at their Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station Wedding.

A Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station Wedding isn’t complete without stopping at Eagle Landing State Park for iconic East Haddam Swing Bridge photos. Before heading to the venue for the ceremony, we stopped by for the first look, and portraits. When you’re planning your timeline, think about how you want your wedding day to be. Who do you want to spend time with? That’s a big factor in deciding when wedding party photos are done. If you can get them done before the ceremony, you’ll be able to spend the rest of your evening with each other and your guests. This day only happens once and it goes by FAST. Soak in all the moments with the people that count.

The ceremony and reception space was beautifully decorated by Lagana Florist. It was the perfect Spring meets Summer blend and the fragrance was outstanding. I’ve never been so obsessed with floral swags before. If you needed me, you could find me before the ceremony started snapping all the angles of this meticulously arranged masterpiece.
The newly renovated ceremony space is the ideal situation for a warm sunny day and the perfect spot for a rainy day, too. No secondary backup plan necessary! Your guests can enter through the main lobby, or the side entrance to celebrate your nuptials.
Onsite Portraits
Y’all know how much I love me some golden sun and an empty field. The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station just so happens to have one of the best. It was the perfect spot for some quick portraits after the ceremony. When that light hits just right, baybeeeee you’d better believe we’re playing in that. If there’s time, I love to snag a quick few pictures after the ceremony. It’s an overwhelming moment. You just had a marathon morning, ceremony, and family portraits. Now you can play and breathe and hang out with each other before visiting guests during cocktail hour and your grand entrance. Can we have a round of applause for the hair and makeup vendors that fully slayed Lisa’s wedding glam?!
You don’t need to think twice about booking your Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station wedding. Just go for it. The staff are top notch, the space itself is beautiful with their vaulted ceilings and rich texture, and it’s located in a classic Connecticut town. Make sure you book a great DJ like Djae Melee so you can dance the night away with your friends and family at your reception! I was seriously blown away by his set and highly recommend.
Incredible Vendor Team
Every wedding needs a solid vendor team. Not only so that your day has minimal hiccups, but if something does arise that they’re on top of things with solutions. I cannot stress enough how invaluable having a planner and coordinator is. Consider making some room in your budget to start off your wedding planning with on. Debbie from DWP Events is top notch!
