If you’re from South Eastern Connecticut, you know Harkness Memorial State Park is the hot spot for photos. The variety and history of the property makes for a stunning gallery. If you’re looking for a secondary location for your wedding day portraits, check out these Harkness Park Wedding Photos.
If we’re talking about a good love story you’ll want to buckle up to hear about Abigail and Tyler’s. Abby and Tyler met at YALE Art Gallery. Abby was visiting an old friend for a couple of days, and they didn’t have time to show her around because of work. She headed out into the wild to do some solo exploration of New Haven. It was there that she came across Tyler sketching at the gallery. (Are you totally swooning yet?!) They hit it off immediately, went to lunch, and the rest is history!
During their session I asked Tyler if it was a love at first sight moment where their eyes met across the crowded room and he knew in that moment Abby was the one. I’m a hopeless romantic and have watched one too many RomCom’s, I don’t know what to tell ya. Tyler obliged my vicarious situation by saying yes. We all laughed, but I think deep down there’s always something inside that lets us know when we’ve met the one.
Tyler is a full time artist and a part time art teacher and Abby is a fashion designer who just launched her own line! I’m going to need you to check it out. We’re all about supporting local creatives around here. It was a really awesome experience being able to create with other artists even though we all have different skills and methods of expression. Abby is modest about it, but she also draws and paints! I think it’s so freaking cool to be able to share passions like that in a relationship!
Fast forward through all the dating and engagement period and enter moi. Abby had reached out to me to document their town hall elopement, but unfortunately I was unavailable! That didn’t stop us from making a plan and doing some wedding portraits for them at Harkness Park. The western side of the state doesn’t have the privilege of being so close, and I love watching people light up in awe as they experience the beauty of the ground for the first time. Harkness Park wedding photos are a bucket list item for many brides, so we made it happen!
The park is located on 230 acres of land featuring access to the beach, lawns, gardens, and stunning architecture that makes a great backdrop for and Harkness Park wedding photos. One thing that you absolutely need to know about Harkness Park is that we’re going to do a lot of walking, so be prepared! There are so many beautiful vignettes in the park that are totally worth all the walking for. It’s hard to squish all the scenery into an hour session, but we make as much of it happen as possible.
Harkness Park is located minutes from restaurants, shopping and Mohegan Sun Casino. It has bathrooms onsite, but the indoor bathroom building is seasonal from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Portable toilets are available on site all year round.
Even if you’re not getting married at Eolia Mansion, you can still absolutely take advantage of this State park and grab your Harkness Park Wedding Photos. You won’t be disappointed by the variety and the connection that you’ll experience while you’re there.
Abigail and Tyler were amazing to work with. The love that they have for each other is engrained in every photo! They are playful and sweet together and I feel so honored to have connected with them and given them beautiful Harkness Park wedding photos to cherish forever!
