We all have them. Your best friend, your neighbor, Sally at the supermarket. No one is safe from the feelings of unworthiness and self doubt from time to time. Today I’m coming at you with three tips for a great photoshoot. Once you’re done reading these tips for a great photoshoot, you’ll be able to rock your photoshoot with your head held high and confidence on point.
Trust is the biggest factor when it comes to overcoming those insecurities. Choosing the right photographer means that you’ll be building trust throughout your entire experience. What that means is I’ll never ask you to do something that doesn’t feel right to you. It’s important that you feel comfortable enough to let go, so I can document your truth. Not to mention, I’ll hype you up like you wouldn’t believe! In other words, you just found yourself your very own personal cheerleader. 🥳
I have the ability to make people feel comfortable, but I’m also knowledgeable in those good angles that will have you feeling your best. Communication is an especially important part of the ground work leading up to your session. By getting to know you and your partner through pre-session communications and questionnaires, it allows me to know exactly how to make you feel like the rockstar you are.
If you think your right side is your good side, then I’ll be sure to focus on getting your good side. If you’re concerned about a certain body part like your arms or your legs, I know what adjustments need to be made so that you can look at your photos and feel the best about yourself. It goes without saying that I am all about showcasing the beauty that’s there. Don’t forget- you’ve got it already! I just capture it in a way that you’ll be sure to love.
It doesn’t matter if you’re dating, engaged, newly married, or an established family- you are creating a legacy every day. Why not document it?
One of my favorite things to do is look at old family pictures. My parents wedding day, pictures from their childhoods. It’s what made me who I am today, and I’m thankful to be able to sit and hold those pictures. And you know what, the first thought I have when I see them isn’t about their weight, or what they were wearing. I might be questioning a few choice hairstyles, but I know that long after they’re gone, I’ll have this little piece of them to carry with me. That’s what photography does. It offers your legacy a piece of you to hold. Read more about why I’m so passionate about legacy.
Lastly, but definitely most importantly, you have to work on your mindset. Yeah, I know this one might seem boring, or even obvious, but truly the only one that can make you secure about yourself is you. Know that you are worthy. Worthy of feeling loved, and beautiful. Worthy of having lasting memories.
This is the BIGGEST thing that will help you have the best outcome for your session. If you go into your session thinking things like “I feel ugly,” “I know I’m going to hate the way I look in these,” “I should have lost that 10 lbs,” and all the other thing we can tell ourselves- It’s going to show in your photos.
I can guide you, hype you up, tell you how beautiful you truly are, but this process is a group project and I need your help, too.
